Building Better Standards

William Cox, our Principal, has spent many years working with standards creation and application as an adjunct to his work as a software architect for Novell, Unix System Labs, BEA, and others.

We can build better standards by applying the techniques of project definition, design, development and delivery—the terminology varies, but the skills to succeed are very much the same. He is a recognized expert in this area, and is sought after as a reviewer and speaker.

Some of his many presentations and tutorials in this area are listed on the Presentations page in the section on Standards, Projects, and Software Architecture. We expect several of those presentations to be published as webinars later in 2008. Contact us to be notified when they are available, or to receive updates via our newletter.

Building better standards has been a theme of his work on the OASIS Technical Advisory Board, an elected advisory group for the leading XML and Web services standards organization in the world. Some of his work there has been on process improvements, technology support for effective standards, metadata for accessing standards, and communicating how to build better standards.
